ECAC Championships preview
Note: All rankings are by total score. Stick bonus included in D score. Home meets are in red. Does not include neutral deductions for injury substitution. Please point out errors if you spot any. “Watch lists” are based on scores so far this season, - which isn’t always a reliable indicator. “Watch lists” are in no particular order, and I’m sure I left some deserving gymnasts out. The listed average is the average of all scores, not the 4-score average. If I have no official information a gymnast is injured, he was put on the list.
The grey shading doesn’t mean anything other than I’m not smart enough to get rid of it. Please forgive the out-of-alignment photos and crappy Excel screenshots - I was born in the 1900s.
History could be made at the ECAC Championships, with Greenville, one of the first new men’s NCAA gymnastics teams added in 60 years, aiming for a podium spot at their conference championships. Greenville could qualify a full team to the NCAA Championships in only their second year of existence if they maintain their place in the top 12 teams in the nation. Can they hold off Army to claim a spot? It would be a boost for the sport if other potential candidates to add men’s gymnastics see a brand new team on the podium.
Team and AA
Navy could be on its way to a “six-peat” at the ECAC Championships. As they are currently ranked #1 in the ECAC and are competing the highest total difficulty, they have a good shot.
The top group is dominated by Springfield, Navy, and Greenville. Greenville is the only team in the ECAC aside from Navy to be over 390 in 4 score average, all-score average, and high. Springfield sits atop the chart, but in direct matchups with Navy and Greenville, the latter two came out on top.

Greenville and the Armed Forces lead the ECAC team vault standings. Greenville is ranked # 1 in the conference and #7 in the nation. Logan Watterson of Greenville is currently ranked 4th in the nation and shares the 5th highest vault score this season (15.00) with Max Bereznev of Oklahoma, Zachary Tiderman of Nebraska, and Zach Synder of Ohio State. They are behind only Asher Hong, Paul Juda, Khoi Young, and Kameron Nelson. Watterson could contend for a title not only in the ECAC, but nationally. The Big Picture
Roadtonationals put together a score projection for the highest team score possible if everyone got their high score in a single meet.
Navy - 412.75
Springfield - 410.6
Greenville - 408.8
Army - 405
William & Mary - 402.8
Simpson - 391.8
My opinions - most probably winner is Navy. Longshot pick would be Greenville. The top three teams are pretty close to on another. Navy has the most difficulty (the only team in the ECAC to break 140 in total difficulty). Greenville has difficulty that is competitive within the ECAC and consistently good execution. Springfield is somewhere in between. Their performance over the season has been variable, with the widest spread in total E score of all the teams in the ECAC.
