Men’s NCAA Gymnastics Championships for Dummies

Watching 6 events at once requires a little planning (by Dall-E 3, which made up the triple pommel horse. I’d kinda like to see that in real life.)

I love the energy of six teams competing at once to the sound of six screaming fanbases, but it can get a little….chaotic.

So I made some “cheat sheets” to help me follow the action. I also add Roadtonationals to my home screen so I can look up specific scores if needed.

I can get a rough idea of where the strengths and weaknesses of each team are, and how they stack up relative to each other on each event. I left myself a little space at the bottom so I can write in the prelim scores and use the sheets at the finals.

These numbers don’t include injury substitution neutral deductions and nullifications that have nothing to do with gymnastics.

Session 1

Stanford won’t have trouble qualifying (I said this was for dummies). Nebraska and Illinois should also make it. Those two are close together, but no one is out there to “win” prelims.

Session 2

Oklahoma and Michigan are looking good. The drama here is between Ohio State and Penn State for that last spot in the finals. Ohio has the home gym advantage, but Penn State has a smidge more difficulty.
