Men’s NCAA Gymnastics Meet Snapshot Week 10 2025

Army has ended its regular season with the highest average execution of all the teams (so far this season).

The Basics

Quite a few close meets this week. Back in the days of 6 up 4 count, I could almost always guess who was going to win before the meets even happened. Not any more. I invite people to study the snapshots and draw their own conclusions about the importance of execution.

Stanford competed the highest total difficulty of any team so far this season, but several teams with less difficulty achieved higher scores this weekend (Penn State, Nebraska, Michigan, and Oklahoma).

There were 7 meets this week. A major theme was “Don’t let go of the high bar”. Penn State achieved the third highest total team score in the nation so far this season (329.05) while clinching a B1G regular season championshiop while beating Nebraska’s fourth highest total team score in the nation so far this season (328.85), Michigan came from behind to overtake Ohio State in the last two rotations, Braxton Jones set a school record for Simpson on vault with a Kasamatsu 1 and 1/2 scoring 14.4 (only three gymnasts have scored higher this season), Parker Thackston of Ohio State became the second gymnast to break 15 on any event with a 15.05 on PH, and Taylor Burkhart breaks 80 in the AA.

Team standings - 1) Oklahoma 2) Stanford 3) Nebraska 4) Penn State 5) Michigan 6) Ohio State

Individuals - AA) Taylor Burkhart (Stanford), FX Charlie Larson (MI), PH Brandon Dang (Ill), SR Asher Hong (Stanford) VT Kameron Nelson (Ohio State), PB Josh Karnes (Penn State), HB Emre Dodanli (Oklahoma)

The Details

Please point out errors if you spot any.

PDF of full results, official school media reports, and full video replay when available are linked under the name of the meet. If I leave something out, it is usually because it wasn’t available at the time I sit down to write.

Home scores are in red. Stick bonus is included in the D score. Neutral deductions are included in the E score.

Neutral deductions for injury and non-performance-related deductions are not included in the snapshot calculations.

Margin is where the leader stood after each rotation. I corrected for teams being on different events in meets that were not head to head.

Greenville @ Navy

Results Navy report Video

A very close meet, with the teams evenly matched in both difficulty and execution. Greenville had the lead going into the last rotation, but Navy ended up overtaking them by 0.6 after high bar.

Air Force and Simpson @ Army

Results Army report Air Force report Simpson report Video

Army scored almost matched its season-high to defeat Air Force and Simpson. Army led wire to wire. Air Force had a less then great meet (and were without Patty Hoopes), while Army had the second highest total team execution of any team this season.

Oklahoma and Greenville @ William & Mary

Results Oklahoma report William and Mary report Video

Oklahoma competed a little less than its average total difficulty here. Emre Dodanli scored 14.5 on HB, the second highest score on that event so far this year (behind only Frederick Richard of Michigan with 14.7).

Ohio State @ Michigan

Results Michigan report Ohio State report Video

Things were going great for Ohio State…until they got to high bar. Ohio States routines actually had a little more difficulty - the D score here has stick bonus, which gave Michigan 0.6 to 0.1 for Ohio State. Ohio State did have some highlights with the 15.05 from Parker Thackston on HB and 14.55 from Kameron Nelson on VT. Michigan has an addition to the Pommel Pack with freshman Aaronson Mansberger scoring at 14.6

California @ Stanford

Results California report Stanford report Video

Stanford competed the highest team total difficulty so far this season, with a total D score of 122.5 (0.6 from SB). California finished just shy of its season high. Aiden Li of California won PH over Khoi Young. Asher Hong (77.55) and Taylor Burkhart (80.4 with a fall) both got scores in six events. Hong had a total difficulty of 30.9 while Burkhart had a total difficulty of 30.2. Burkhart’s AA score isn’t listed on the official score sheet as his total was 5 counting routines and a Senior night exhibition score on high bar.

Simpson @ Springfield

Another close one, Nebraska had it until high bar, where they opened the door for Penn State to nip them by 0.2 points. Josh Karnes was clutch for Penn State with a 14.6 on PB and 14 on HB.
