Better late than never…..the stats on the final week of regular season NCAA competition.

Air Force came out on top at the USAG collegiate championships, highlighted by a 15.4 pommel horse routine from Patrick Hoopes, the second highest pommel horse score of the 2024 season. Otherwise, the meet was a mini preview of the upcoming ECAC championships (minus Army, who did not compete here). Navy led the ECAC teams with its second place finish, followed by Greenville. Greenville had a rough still rings routine, but rallied at the end with a season high 69.4 on floor exercise.

Illinois narrowly defeated Penn State 406.5 to 405.95. Penn State started to catch Illinois on still rings, but fell behind on parallel bars, and a great high bar rotation from Penn State wasn’t enough to catch the Illini. Penn State ended with substantially higher difficulty (157.5 to 152.3), but execution carried the day for Illinois (Illinois avg E per routine 8.473 to Penn State’s 8.282).

The regular season ended with Nebraska scoring the fourth highest total team score of the season to beat an Ohio State team that scored its season high of 414.15. Parker Thackston of Ohio State joined the 15 + pommel club. His fellow club members are Ignacio Yockers (Oklahoma), Patrick Hoopes (Air Force), Brandon Dang (Illinois), and Fred Richard (Michigan). Interestingly, World silver medalist Khoi Young has yet to join, an indication of the level of pommel horse specialist talent we now have in the U.S.A.

Nebraska and Illinois shared the regular season B1G Championship.
